This next session featured on the blog is one of my very favorite sessions ever for so many reasons.
First, the Location: I have always had a love for forests. I love the whimsy of a sea of trees, the way the sunlight peeks through tall branches, and I especially love that woodsy earthy aroma. Even when I was little I’m pretty sure all of my make believe games took place in a forest. As a photographer, I LOVE forest sessions and due to places I’ve lived, I haven’t gotten to do nearly enough haha. So of course I was ecstatic to do a dreamy forest engagement session in the beautiful Chattanooga TN. The session took place in January, so while there wasn’t much green foliage, the rich browns of the tree trunks and the bright moss on the boulders created a beautiful color scheme. There was even a little river/creek to dip our feet into. I actually brought my niece with me when I was scouting for this location and she put it perfectly “This place is totally magical”.
Then of course, no session is really a session at all without my clients, and I couldn’t think of a better couple to photograph in a magical Tennessee forest than Josh and Liz. These two are actually close friends of mine and being able to celebrate their engagement with a photo session like this was so so special to me. Fun story: After I found the location I instantly imagined Liz in a long red dress to really pop against the earthy colors. When she texted me about what to wear I kept it simple and just asked if she had any long dresses, then she sent me a picture of pretty much the exact dress I had imagined. How perfect is that? To top it all off, they brought their new puppy, but not just any puppy, a super fluffy and adorable wolf-like pup. So basically, I got to photograph a fairytale forest session, spend time with old friends, AND snuggle a puppy all in one day. Needless to say, it was an amazing session and some absolutely magical photos came out of it.
I'm so excited to finally be sharing some of those images on my blog, so keep scrolling to see some of my favorite beautiful Chattanooga Engagement Session:
