Modern Boho Styled Elopement | Midwest Elopement Photographer | Parkville, MO

What happens when you bring 5 creatives together to create a styled elopement with no color limits? Magic. Magic Happens.

I initially approached Fiore Floral Studio with this simple idea for a styled shoot: I told her I wanted to encourage brides in the midwest not to be afraid of color and stepping outside of the box for their wedding. We all see the glamorous weddings and elopements coming out of California, Colorado, and Oregon, but why not more in the Midwest?? All I had at that point was the Marigold skirt, my models, and that I would love to incorporate jewel tones into the most whimsical florals she could create. That was it, I didn’t give her any more direction other than I wanted her to love what she created so it would be a beautiful representation of her talent.

Along with Fiore, we also had a DELICIOUS and elegant cake by Created Cakes, beautiful hair by my hairdresser/friend Chelsey (who has since retired to take care of perfect baby boy!) and stunning make up by The Porcelain Bride.

We didn’t have a mood board, there was no micro managing, we all just brought our own talents to the table with the concepts above in mind and it was perfect! We created a whimsical modern elopement that was completely attainable by the average midwest bride. The shoot was held on a private property in Parkeville, MO in August, so the greens were lush and the weather was perfect in the late afternoon.

When I was a bride, I had a standard wedding, and while there is NOTHING wrong with standard weddings, it wasn’t the best fit for our love story. Why didn’t I elope? Because eloping at the time felt hectic! Like I’d have to travel so far to somewhere so fancy and I was already overwhelmed with planning a standard wedding. Now that I’m a wedding photographer, I see that I was completely wrong: You can have a magical elopement style wedding ANYWHERE. The key is the right vendors, who see your vision to bring it to life, and more importantly: Care about your story.
