Cody: Class of 2020 | Lee's Summit Photographer | Baseball Player Senior Session
The senior session featured on the journal today is filled with meaningful details to truly capture this amazing 2020 graduate and who he is in his senior year. Meet Cody, a stellar big brother and son, lover of the outdoors, amazing baseball player and so much more!
We shot his session at his family’s property where he grew up hiking and exploring from childhood to now. He, his mom, and little brother took me on the trails and showed me all of the favorite spots so we could capture them into his portraits. It was so fun getting to hear all of the stories associated with each spot and how much this property really shaped up Cody’s childhood, bringing so much more meaning to his senior session.
After we got got through the trails, we came out to a big field with the most perfect golden hour lighting to capture his love for baseball AND his truck. I always think it’s so cool to capture seniors with their vehicles. It tends to be a year so many kids become more independent and that first car becomes a little piece of their story. But my favorite shots have to be the ones that capture his favorite sport, baseball. If you or someone you know played sports in high school, you know how much of a lifestyle it can become. Even if someone chooses not to play in college, the lessons learned in sportsmanship and the relationships made last FAR beyond graduation. That’s why I’m such a fan of incorporating these passions into senior portrait sessions.
Overall, I was blown away by Cody and his family. Their love for each other was so apparent and getting to actually walk through pieces of Cody’s childhood to get a full picture of his senior year was such a cool experience. He’s an amazing guy with an amazing future ahead of him at UCM! So thankful I had the opportunity to play a small part in celebrating him in his senior year.
